Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account before uploading?
No. Upload your recording without logging in, see the beginning of the transcript, then decide whether to pay for the whole thing.
What is free?
The preview of the beginning — no account, no card. Recordings up to 5 started minutes are entirely free once you sign in: you get 15 free minutes a day, and an unlocked transcript stays on your account for good. Longer recordings stay paid — one-off from $1.99 or plan hours — as do file export and the redacted version.
Does skryba.ai support Polish?
Yes. The product was built first for natural Polish and also supports English recordings.
Which file formats are supported?
Practically any audio or video file — if it carries an audio track, we take it. The ones we see most are MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, OGG, Opus, FLAC, AIFF, WMA and AMR on the audio side, and MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and WMV on the video side; from a video we read the audio track alone, so you do not have to extract it. A file may be up to 5 GB — the same limit without an account and on every plan. A recording pasted as a URL is fetched up to 500 MB, because that path is bounded by our own server rather than by the file size.
Can I edit a finished transcript?
Of course. Once the transcript is unlocked, you can correct individual passages directly in the app.
What happens to my recording?
The file is kept privately in Cloudflare R2. A recording uploaded without an account disappears together with its transcript after 30 days. On an account the audio file stays until you delete it yourself — unless you switch on automatic deletion after 1, 7 or 30 days in settings; the transcript stays regardless of that choice.
Do I need a subscription?
No. For a single recording you pay once — $0.10 per minute, minimum $1.99 — and it stays unlocked for good, with no card on file. A subscription (from $9.99 a month for 4 hours) pays off when there are more recordings. The account itself is free.
What does transcription accuracy depend on?
Mostly on recording quality. Clean audio from a microphone close to the speaker yields text that is nearly ready to use; background noise, overlapping voices and a weak microphone lower the result. Always double-check proper names and numbers — which is why you can edit the transcript directly in the app.
Which languages does skryba.ai support?
Polish and English. You pick the recording language before transcription or leave automatic detection on. The product is built first for Polish — its inflection, punctuation and natural word order.
Does skryba.ai recognize who is speaking?
Yes. The transcript is split into segments with timestamps and speaker labels, so in a multi-person conversation you can see who says what and jump back to the exact moment in the recording with one click.
How long can my recording be?
In practice as long as you like: the limit is file size and it is 5 GB, which holds tens of hours of a typical voice MP3. Exactly how many minutes depends on the file's bitrate, which is why we do not quote a duration. We bill every started minute of recording.
Which formats can I download the text in?
TXT (plain text) and SRT (subtitles with timestamps, ready for video). You can also share the transcript with a secure link instead of sending a file.
Is using skryba.ai GDPR-compliant?
Recordings go to private Cloudflare R2 storage and are never published anywhere. In settings you can enable automatic audio deletion after 1, 7 or 30 days — the transcript stays. You can delete a recording or your whole account at any time and download a copy of your data with one click. The privacy policy has the details.
